Support is available when you’re ready

In Australia, therapy wait times often exceed 12 weeks, with many psychologists managing long waitlists. Access is even more limited in rural and remote areas, and some clinics in larger centres may not be accepting new clients for extended periods. These barriers (along with the normal anxiety of meeting a new therapist) can make getting the help you need feel daunting.

Life can be challenging, and reaching out for support is a big step. Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed, uncertain, or simply want a better way forward, we’re here to help. Our goal isn’t just to ease the immediate strain - we provide insight, clarity, and tools that last well beyond our sessions.

We’re ready to meet you and work together on what comes next.

We make getting mental health support easier - two hands reaching toward each other in the sky, with one hand above and the other below, against a cloudy sky with trees in the background.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • We offer 50-minute online psychology sessions for adults. Our clinicians use a range of evidence-based approaches, including CBT, ACT, Schema Therapy, and EMDR, depending on your needs and goals. We focus on areas where we have specific clinical experience, including anxiety, mood disorders, workplace and injury-related concerns, health conditions (including sleep difficulties), chronic pain, ADHD, relationship difficulties, and life transitions.

  • Getting started is simple. You can reach out via our contact form or email info@forwardthinkingpsychology.com and we’ll guide you through the next steps, including any paperwork and answering questions you may have. We also offer a free 15-minute consultation, which gives you an opportunity to ask questions, understand how therapy might help, and see whether we’re the right fit.

  • We aim to keep fees fair and transparent, with no hidden costs.

    • 2026 session fee: $229

    • A Medicare rebate of $145.25 per session is available for eligible clients

    • This results in an out-of-pocket cost of approximately $83.75 per session.

  • Your privacy is one of our main priorities. Your information is stored securely using Halaxy, a trusted software system used by thousands of Australian healthcare providers. All sessions are conducted via secure telehealth platforms, and we take privacy and confidentiality seriously, in line with professional and legal standards.

  • This varies depending on the person and the concerns you’re seeking support for. Some people find that 3–4 sessions are sufficient for short-term or specific issues. On average, many clients attend 6–10 sessions, which allows time for assessment and meaningful therapeutic work. More complex or long-standing difficulties may require longer-term support.

  • This is a common experience, and it’s completely understandable to feel unsure about trying again. While our clinicians bring experience and evidence-based skills, research consistently shows that the relationship with your therapist is one of the strongest predictors of success. The best way to explore whether therapy might be different this time is through a free 15-minute consultation, where we can talk openly about what hasn’t worked in the past and whether we’re well placed to help.
